  • Appointed Senior Executive Director for United Technologies Corporation sustainability efforts, and led all internal and external sustainability efforts tied to the Company’s technical organizations
  • Organized and led the Company’s product sustainability efforts, introducing a refined Design for Sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment program across the engineering operations

  • Appointed the Liaison Delegate at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)  and represented the Company in the Product Sustainability Roundtable (PSRT).

  • Co-chair of the WBCSD’s Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Low Emissions Economic Partnership projects since 2005.
  • Organized and led the “Policy and Markets” efforts at the US DOE’s Energy Efficiency Buildings Hub at the Philadelphia Navy Yard (also known as the Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI)).

  • Board of Directors for the Alliance to Save Energy (retired); Global Buildings Performance Network (active).

  • Expert in the area of energy efficiency in buildings and sustainable cities and panelist at the Conference of Parties (COP) in Paris and Marrakech), Clean Energy Ministerial (Beijing), GreenBuild.

  • Lecturer on corporate sustainability  and climate impact at leading academic institutions including UConn, Yale, NYU, University College Cork (Ireland), and MIT Sloan. 
  • Holds engineering degrees from Virginia Tech and RPI; and, an MSM/MBA from MIT Sloan where he is also a Sloan Fellow

Example Project Accomplishments include

  • Publication of the Facts and Trends and Transforming the Market reports associated with the WBCSD’s Energy Efficiency in Buildings projects.

  • Engaged with the public leadership of the major cities of Gujurat, India; Shanghai, China; Philadelphia; and, Houston to produce emissions reduction and energy efficiency action plans to address sustainability objectives in those cities (WBCSD coordinated)
  • Developed the “Lab” city engagement model, for establishing collaborative outcomes among diverse public and private interests, particularly geared toward clean energy and energy efficiency solutions.   The Houston Lab resulted in introduction of the cities first Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing program in 2015.  Other outcome examples are documented on the WBCSD’s Sustainable Cities website..
